Like many, I was a shocked to hear about the passing of Beau Biden, son of Vice-President Joe Biden. He was still a young man at 46 which makes the news even sadder. I immediately thought of this picture I made at the 2008 Democratic Convention. The picture stands out to me because I remember thinking that at such a public event, with hundreds if not thousands of photographers covering it and taken from afar with a telephoto lens, this picture had an intimacy that I remembered when I first saw it. It had an impact on me.
It was a tender, private moment with thousands watching in person, millions more at home. It surprised me, something that photography continues to do even after all these years. My thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.
Amazing photo, and a nice and caring post. Thanks for sharing, Steve!
thanks Jeff & Eileen.
It’s photos like this that will help them through their grief….beautiful.
